Some Interesting Tennis Statistics

Article by qamar mushtaq

A while back Whether a select gang of my readers to resolve the examples below question:

If there is Another thing we could improve about my tennis game,

it will be:____________________________________________

I spent the weekend discussing your email as well as the response was enormous! Several individuals who responded had just one part of their game that they can want to improve. Here’s the final results on the answers that 69 of these gave for the following question:

If there is A very important factor i could improve about my tennis game,

it may be:____________________________________________

1. My Serve 23 (33%)

2. My Backhand 11 (16%)

3. My Mental Game / My Mental Toughness (10) 14%

4. My Volleys / My Net Game / My Overheads (9) 13%

5. My Strategy (8) 12%

6. My Footwork / My Level of Fitness / My Forehand / All Others 8 (12%)

They’re some interesting statistics! Also i asked respondents to read the benefits they might gain from improving these elements of their game. Here’s the breakdown:

What’s the benefit you’ll gain from that?

1. I might gain confidence. 54%

2. I’d are more consistent. 18%

3. I would win more matches. 14%

4. I would read more fun / enjoy the game more. 12%

5. We would be a little more competitive / everybody else. 2%

Not surprising in my opinion that their Serve were only available in for the reason that most important response. Being that it’s a vey important shot in tennis (and consequently), the serve could be the one shot that 1/3 of my readers wish to improve.

I applaud them as open and honest enough to discuss their tennis goals and challenges beside me. I honor them. Many are not prepared to intensify towards plate and seek out precisely what just could put that extra oomph in their game, and get it to another level.

One interesting statistic that is missing on the above list (it didn’t appear anywhere) was My Return of Serve. The return of serve is the second biggest shot amongst players of tennis, but it didn’t have the list. The absence of the return of serve during this poll is interesting from the logical perspective – it needs to be there – but totally understandable by Yours Truly, for the reason that return of serve is not a ‘cool’ shot for many players. Most players (time for it to will) will attribute a poor return of are designed to something magical that their opponent did using their serve; or simply brush it for a fluke. In many cases each time a player misses a return of serve, they either

1) Congratulate their opponent over a great serve, or

2) Berate themselves loudly in the game for missing returning that they can can’t pass off as a great serve by their opponent.

Oh, the way the ego rears it’s ugly directly the tennis court!

Now don’t get me wrong; I’m not really here helping put anyone down, rather to clarify and enlighten you on the obvious way to purchase the results you choose. That is what everything really amounts to, right? Results. Results matter. Answers are whatever we want. Review keep an eye on at the way to get them.

To get the outcomes you desire about the tennis court, you need to understand why you’d like them. There were some fine answers in the above list: Confidence, Consistency, Winning More Matches, Enjoying yourselves, Experiencing and enjoying the Game of Tennis, Being Competitive…outstanding responses. These are generally all benefits associated with gained from the improvement in only one area.

Let’s peel away the layers for a second and see what those benefits may cause in a personal way.

If, as an example, you’ll need a better serve given it would allow someone to win more matches, then stop and look at the benefit for winning more matches. What do i mean to you? Manages to do it mean respect and admiration out of your friends, parents, fellow tennis players, teammates, coach, etc?

That’s where you wish to go ahead your thoughts. Navigate to the place in which you view the personal benefits associated with giving you better tennis game – not simply the ‘on-court’ benefits. While you focus on the personal features about giving you better game, you’ve got left the whole world of wishful thinking and entered the concept of Possibility Thinking. This gives you the mental fuel to concentrate on executing it essential to obtain the results you desire around the tennis court.

Now how can you feel plainly told you you can possibly purchase the great a feeling of __________ (complete the blank) if perhaps you were capable of fix the parts of your respective tennis game which have been broken? Great or fantastic? This is how the rubber meets the street. The private benefits you will get are anything you really desire. You can do this! The hot button is to improve inside areas of your game you’ll want to fix, while keeping your focus around the personal benefit you will gain from this.

It’s true that it’s easier in theory, but you can really find where you plan to be inside your game. One big step you’ll be able to take is usually to wide open a dialog with ourselves that might go similar to this:

Okay, I understand I want to improve my ___________. If I improve my __________, I most certainly will win more matches, feel well informed and play more consistently. This can personally benefit me inside the following ways: _____________________________.

Now, what is the the one thing I am able to start doing today i always seriously don’t can do, however, if I really do it, I am aware that I will move a stride nearer to my tennis goal of ___________?

Contemplate these questions. This can be the stuffs that goes to the next level. Show us an individual who is frustrated with why their game seriously isn’t where they demand so that it is, and I’ll tell you someone that is just not wondering the right questions. I’m not going that to sound harsh – I’ve that you really think concerning this.

As it pertains right down to it, you are aware of I am aware that you’ve got a fantastic tennis player inside you may waiting to burst out! A great number of people are merely 1 inch from your tennis goals. The harder time you make payment for concentrating on every one of the possibilities exist for your game – and utilizing the steps you ought to get there – the quicker things may occur for you personally.

You might not read plenty of tennis articles this way – as there are a reason to the. Many men and women that teach tennis (tennis pros, coaches, etc) are uncomfortable talking about subjects honestly. They inform you:

Just keep practicing and visiting the clinics / lessons / camps, you get the hang of it…

A lot of them are delivering what they think you wish – and allowing you to pay a ton of money to be.

Does which means that I’m against utilizing a nearby pro? Never. A good coach or pro might be priced at greater than imaginable. The actual I’m endeavoring to drive residence is this: I have been down the teaching tennis road, and i know where it leads the majority of the time – to that particular little town called Frustration, and quite often it’s to get a ticket outside of that place. That’s not me trying to sell you anything on this page besides an idea. That idea quite simply need to take responsibility for looking for and enhancing the areas of your game that you understand, in your heart of hearts, it is advisable to improve. Have you been stuck in Frustrationville? Can’t find a ticket out? Then grab your racket, items and start walking. Leave there. Start moving to in places you desire to be. A stride at one time. There are new places and experiences coming. I won’t provde the commitment of an absolutely free first-class ticket by using an airline it doesn’t exist. But I do promise to point how, as it were, and provide what you need – to be able to venture out to the court and acquire what you long for.

I encourage anyone to take it one step further – whatever that next phase is ideal for you. Look for the options to your tennis game. Don’t be satisfied with a lot less than your foremost. Get yourself a bit uncomfortable and stretch yourself – that’s where the development comes. There’s a well used saying:

Should you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten.

Find your weak areas and improve them. Don’t stop. Don’t quit. Press on. I’m watching you, i can’t wait to find out the tennis player you’ll become! I’m with you entirely!

Schools Making Physical Education More Fun with Dance Dance Revolution

Article by Peter Danton

Many people have referred to Dance Dance Revolution as being high interest but requiring little skill. However, there are gamers and dancers out there that would definitely disagree. As a matter of fact there are at least ten states that are currently using Dance Dance Revolutions invigorating movements as a part of the physical education classes that are a required part of the schools curriculum. Basically a player will stand on the Dance Dance Revolution pad with arrows that point down, up, right and left; by listening to the beat of the music and watching the computer screen, they tap on the arrows corresponding to the beat.

One reason that it has become popular is that many educators and school boards feel that it is a non-competitive (when compared to the more traditional sports) type of movement. It has been shown that many students will be moving and practicing even before it is their turn which means more exercise is being performed per student. You can also set different difficulty levels on the Dance Dance Revolutions independently so that you can have a beginner playing at the same time as someone that is more advanced, making them feel less self conscious as everyone knows that kids in school can be merciless with their teasing. Generally physical education has been about a team sport and is normally fairly skills oriented; now it appears to making a move towards activities that kids do not have to be so great at throwing and catching, which in turn appeals to a much wider range of students.

Many schools are even considering spending a little extra on the games so that they can have up to four kids playing at one time. West Virginia was the state that initiated a pilot program in 20 of their public schools and it was so successful full integration of placing Dance Dance Revolutions in all 753 public schools (over 280,000 students) is expected by the end of the decade. The New York Times has even been reporting on the number of schools that are using it to get their students moving.

Many experts feel that incorporating Dance Dance Revolutions into physical education classes is a great way to promote better health and fitness in the children. It makes them move the entire body and if used in conjunction with promoting healthy snacks while playing, it is a great overall fitness program.
